JESUS CHRIST - OUR SAVIOR – Mormon.org states:

“The first principle of the gospel is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Having faith in Christ… means believing that He is the Son of God and that He suffered for your sins, afflictions, and infirmities. When you have faith in Christ, you accept and apply His Atonement and His teachings… Having faith causes you to try as hard as you can to learn about and become more like your Savior…  Through repentance, the second principle of the gospel, you change thoughts, desires, habits, and actions that are not in harmony with God’s teachings… To repent, you… Stop sinning and strive never to commit sin again…”  

WHAT MORMON.ORG DOES NOT TELL YOU ABOUT JESUS CHRIST:

Jesus the Son of God is eternal, not procreated.

• Mormons do not believe that Jesus is the Son of God in the same way that Christians believe Jesus is God’s Son.  While Christians believe the Biblical teaching that Jesus is called God’s Son because He possesses the full nature of the eternal God (John 5:18; Colossians 2:9) and has always existed being, “without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life” (Hebrews 7:3), Mormons do NOT believe that Jesus has always existed. Rather, they teach that Jesus’ “spirit” form was conceived by a procreative act between God (Heavenly Father) and His wife (Heavenly Mother) in a pre-existent world. The Encyclopedia of Mormonism, explains: 

  “Jesus, however, is the firstborn among all the sons of God—the first begotten in the spirit, and the only begotten in the flesh. He is our elder, brother, and we, like Him, are in the image of God. All men and women are in the similitude of the universal Father and Mother, and are literally the sons and daughters of Deity.” —Encyclopedia of Mormonism, vol. 4, 1992, p. 1667

The Biblical Jesus is not Lucifer’s brother.

• Because the Mormon Church teaches that Jesus’ spirit was born in Heaven, they also believe that Jesus and Lucifer are spirit-brothers. LDS Church manual, Gospel Principles and the LDS Church Publication, Ensign, explain:

  “We needed a Savior to pay for our sins and teach us how to return to our Heavenly Father. Our Father said, ‘Whom shall I send?’ (Abraham 3:27). Two of our brothers offered to help. Our oldest brother, Jesus Christ, who was then called Jehovah, said, “Here am I, send me” (Abraham 3:27)… Satan, who was called Lucifer, also came, saying, “Behold, here am I, send me, I will be thy son, and I will redeem all mankind…’ ” –Gospel Principles, pp. 17-18

  “On first hearing, the doctrine that Lucifer and our Lord, Jesus Christ, are brothers may seem surprising to some—especially to those unacquainted with latter-day revelations. But both the scriptures and the prophets affirm that Jesus Christ and Lucifer are indeed offspring of our Heavenly Father and, therefore, spirit brothers... as the Firstborn of the Father, Jesus was Lucifer’s older brother.” — ‘I Have a Question,’ Ensign, June 1986, pp. 25–26

This belief that Jesus and Lucifer are brothers is the opposite of what true Christians believe because the Bible says that Jesus created “all things…that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible” (Colossians 1:16). This must include Lucifer as well as all the other angels of God and mankind. Therefore, Jesus and Lucifer cannot possibly be spirit-brothers!

The LDS Jesus’ blood is insufficient to cover all sins.

• The Mormon Church does not teach that Jesus suffered for “all” of our sins, but rather, that He suffered for only those sins that lie within the power of His blood to forgive.  The Prophet Joseph Smith and LDS Apostle Joseph Fielding Smith (who became Mormonism’s 10th Prophet) explained:

  “But man may commit certain grievous sins…that will place him beyond the reach of the atoning blood of Christ. If then he would be saved he must make sacrifice of his own life to atone—so far as in his power lies—for that sin, for the blood of Christ alone under certain circumstances will not avail. …Joseph Smith taught that there were certain sins so grievous that man may commit, that they will place the transgressors beyond the power of the atonement of Christ. If these offenses are committed, then the blood of Christ will not cleanse them from their sins even though they repent. Therefore their only hope is to have their own blood shed to atone, as far as possible, in their behalf.” —Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 1, pp. 134-135

The LDS Jesus requires you to do “all you can do.”

• Mormon.org states that to have “faith” in Christ you must “try as hard as you can to learn about and become more like your Savior.”  However, Mormon.org fails to warn you that according to Mormonism it is not good enough just to “try as hard as you can” to become “like” the Savior.  You must “do all you can do,” and “deny yourselves of ALL ungodliness” BEFORE you can receive the “grace” of Christ for salvation. Consider the following statements from the Book of Mormon: 
  
  
  • 2 NEPHI 25:23: “For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.”
    
    
    • Can you imagine the kind of pressure that this Book of Mormon verse place upon Mormons? Consider these questions: Have you done “all” you can do?  Isn’t there something you can think of that you haven’t done, that you “can do” for salvation? At what point have done enough?
      
      
  • MORONI 10:32: “Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God. ”
    
    
    • The little words “if” and “then” make all the difference in this Book of Mormon passage.  It is clear that “if” you do not “deny yourselves of ALL ungodliness,” “then” Jesus’ “grace” is insufficient for you. Mormons, have you denied yourselves of ALL ungodliness?  At what point are you sure that “all” ungodliness has been denied and that you will never sin again?

Given these statements and others like them found in Mormon Scripture, it comes as no surprise that LDS Apostle Spencer W. Kimball (who became Mormonism’s 12th Prophet) and the Prophet Joseph Smith stated:

“There is one crucial test of repentance. This is abandonment of the sin. …The saving power does not extend to him who merely wants to change his life. …Nor is repentance complete when one merely tries to abandon sin....To ‘try’ is weak. To ‘do the best I can’ is not strong. We must always do better than we can...” —The Miracle of Forgiveness, pp. 163-165

“Repentance is a thing that cannot be trifled with every day. Daily transgression and daily repentance is not that which is pleasing in the sight of God.” —Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 148

The LDS Jesus cannot save you “in your sins.”

• Regarding repentance, Mormon.org states that one must “Stop sinning and strive never to commit sin again.” This statement, “stop sinning,” is the true LDS definition of “repentance.” However, Mormon.org fails to explain that according to Mormonism, if one does not “stop sinning” but continues to “repeat the sin” they “are held accountable for their former sins” (Gospel Principles, p. 253) and the Mormon Jesus “cannot save them in their sins” (Alma 11:37). Note the following statements from Mormon Doctrine and Covenants Scripture and the Book of Mormon:
  • D&C 82:7: “And now, verily I say unto you, I, the Lord, will not lay any sin to your charge; go your ways and sin no more; but unto that soul who sinneth shall the former sins return, saith the Lord your God.”
  • D&C 58:43: “By this ye may know if a man repenteth of his sins — behold, he will confess them and forsake them.”
    
  • ALMA 11:37: “And I say unto you again that he cannot save them in their sins; for I cannot deny his word, and he hath said that no unclean thing can inherit the kingdom of heaven; therefore, how can ye be saved, except ye inherit the kingdom of heaven? Therefore, ye cannot be saved in your sins.” 

• A procreated “spirit-brother” of Lucifer and all mankind,
• Whose blood cannot cleanse “all” sin,
• Whose “grace” is insufficient to cover the one who hasn’t denied himself of “all ungodliness,”
• Who requires the complete “abandonment” of sin before forgiveness is granted,
• And who is unable to “save” one “in their sins,” 

• God eternal (John 1:1; John 5:18; Colossians 2:9; Isaiah 9:6; Hebrews 7:3),
• Who created Lucifer and all mankind, (Colossians 1:16; John 1:3),
• Whose blood covers “all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9),
• Whose “grace” is all sufficient to cover the ungodly and unworthy sinner (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 11:6; 4:4-5; 5:8),
• Whose forgiveness covers sin immediately upon confession (1 John 1:9),
• And who is able to save you in your sins, by washing them away, “As far as the east is from the west” (Psalm 103:12). 

• ISAIAH 45:21-22: “…There is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.”
