.:THE PURPOSE OF OUR 4MORMON.ORG WEBSITE We are a group of Ex-Mormons and Christians who love our Mormon friends and relatives in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We offer our research into the history and doctrines of Mormonism in a loving attempt to wake our sincere LDS friends up to what they are not being told so that they can escape the deception of Mormonism and find the real truth in knowing the Jesus Christ of the Bible who is NOT the Jesus of Mormonism. Our experiences in Mormonism have proven that there are many pros and cons to being LDS. On the one hand, the LDS Church is a great place to build friendships and have strong family values reinforced, but on the other hand, when questions arise that are not what Mormons would call “faith-promoting,” members and investigators alike are often discouraged over the admonition to “pray about the Book of Mormon, rely on your testimony and have faith” attitude of the loyal that supposedly answers all criticism. Without concrete answers to serious questions, these sincere lovers of truth are often left in limbo, with no foundation to turn for hope and concrete solutions. Our goal in offering this website ministry is to provide that place of hope by affirming a foundation of faith in the Jesus Christ of the Bible that has been tested and is verifiably reliable. PRAYING ABOUT THE BOOK OF MORMON At 1 Timothy 4:1, the Bible warns that in the last days people would be led astray into believing counterfeit doctrines through the deception of seducing spirits. We found this to be especially true with the Mormon “testimony.” During our time in Mormonism, many of us took Moroni’s challenge to pray about the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and even gained the “testimony” that allegedly confirmed its accuracy. However, to our dismay and shock, we discovered lies, cover-ups and contradicting doctrines within Mormonism that brought the credibility of our “testimonies” into question. We found that not only do the clear teachings of the Book of Mormon and the Bible discredit the teachings and practices of Joseph Smith and the LDS Church 1., but basic LDS fundamental principles concerning the Person and nature of God 2., priesthood authority 3., and eternal marriage 4. cannot be reconciled with the Book of Mormon or the Bible, both of which are acclaimed by the LDS Church as containing the “fulness of the everlasting gospel.” 5. Finally, when we considered the archeological and historical evidence against Mormonism, such as Joseph Smith’s translation of the fraudulent Kinderhook plates 6., his contradictory translation of the recently discovered papyrus from which the Book of Abraham was allegedly translated, the lack of verifiable archaeological artifacts to substantiate a single city, person, coin or battle mentioned in the Book of Mormon, the DNA evidence that debunks its claim of Hebraic origin for Native Americans, 7. and Smith’s practice of marrying teenagers as young as 14 years old and wives who were already married to living husbands, we could not deny the deceptive nature of Mormonism. 8. WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO It is not religious “persecution” to present truth in concern for one’s eternal destiny. Neither should an “attack” upon the lies that keep people trapped in a counterfeit religious system be seen as a personal “attack” upon the individuals within that system. We offer our research into the history and doctrines of Mormonism as a loving attempt to alert unsuspecting Mormons and potential converts to this deception so they can be liberated from the seduction of evil spirits to embrace the true Jesus of the Bible who is not Lucifer’s brother, but is the supreme God and Creator of all. We advocate simple faith in Jesus Christ who said: “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” 9. It is not by joining a church, religion, or participating in temple rituals to try to make oneself “worthy” for eternal life, but by coming to Jesus in prayer (John 5:39-40), acknowledging Him as Lord, Savior and God Almighty (Romans 10:9-13) and asking Him to give His righteousness in exchange for one’s sins (2 Corinthians 5:21) that one can obtain eternal life. WHY A PRO-MORMON LOOKING WEBSITE THAT CRITICIZES THE LDS CHURCH On the Internet, all one has to do is type “Mormon” to find many anti-Mormon websites that mock Mormonism. While these sites may be appealing to the person who is looking for an excuse to attack the LDS Church, many who feel Mormonism has a lot to offer in the way of faith and values are turned off, and for the devout LDS person whose Mormonism as an integral part of his or her identity, when something as personal as “faith” is attacked, it often is taken as a personal attack upon one’s personhood. With this in mind, we have put extra effort into making our website as comfortable and appealing to Mormons who desire to examine their religion without the common stigma of mockery and ridicule found on some anti-Mormon websites. Our goal in offering a critical examination of the LDS Church is not to a perpetuate a personal “attack” upon the good people of Mormonism, but rather, to raise questions and doubts about the claims of Mormonism that provoke rational thought and introspective evaluation to lead investigators to the truth. We feel there are many sincere LDS adherents who have questions and doubts about some of the things they’ve heard and experienced within Mormonism, and many are experiencing a “crisis of faith” deep inside, but due to Mormonism’s condemnation of critical judgment, they are not able to talk openly about these questions in LDS circles for fear of being ostracized. Thus, we feel there needs to be a website where faith is reinforced with reason, where one can ponder deep questions, fears and doubts, while clinging to faith and belief in Jesus Christ. There are answers to the tough questions of faith and we believe that a true faith will embrace reason, not shun it. Let’s face it, there are skeletons in every religion, but only a faith that is based upon truth and verifiable evidence is one that can be trusted. Thus, the Bible proclaims: “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.” (1 Thessalonians 5:21) Our hope and prayer is that this website will minister to both active and inactive members of the LDS Church, investigators and anyone else who has questions about Mormonism to promote a faith that is both true and reasonable. I am a former Mormon. I now have much peace knowing the truth.
“I just wanted to thank you for this great teaching site. I am a former Mormon. I now have much peace knowing the truth. I am a new believer of Jesus in the way he would want me to know him and of his love for me. I have been born again for a little over a year. Thank You! Please pray for myself and my family. I still have thoughts of the Mormon ways. How controlling it can be. What release I have found now.”
This is fantastic! Your information is incredibly helpful as I almost got caught up in Mormonism.
“This is fantastic! Your information is incredibly helpful as I almost got caught up in this Mormonism religion. I'm now embracing Christianity but I refuse to join a church as I'm trying to have my own personal relationship with Christ first of all. I read your article on Salvation and I said the salvation prayer. Thank you ever so much for that example.”
Thank you for being there for me!
